family medicine

Family Medicine is usually the "lepak" posting. First of all, you don't have to wake up at ungodly hours just to be in the ward by 8am. Heard that some of them are already there by 7.30am ... God bless them for their enthusiasm ... *cough* ... freaks! ... *cough*

In fact, I can wake up at 8am, bathe by 8.10am, dress up by 8.15am and reach KKS by 8.30am.

Actually no ... I'm just gloating over the fact that I've got an extra 30mins to sleep.

Never look down on a Klinik Kesihatan. As crappy as government health centres can be, its like a mini hospital over here. You've got a Pharmacy, Labs and even a Radiology department that works. The Maternal Child Health is a pretty good concept too. (think MILF ... muahaha)

The School Health team's pretty impressive. These people are the reason your children ain't dying of pertussis or diphteria or measles or mumps or rubella ... tat's how screwed up things can get.

Happen to follow this team to some school called SK Dusun Nyior (heck, that's how "ulu" Seremban is - even the name's screwed up). The children were more excited than us about getting their shots. Mostly Standard 1 kiddies, I guess they're excited about almost any darn thing. Of course, there were kids who looked so phreaked out by the whole thing, they could just shit in their pants that very moment.

One of the vaccines given was Oral Polio, and that is one bitter vaccine. Some kids found it "sedap" though ... after some "prompting" ... suckers!

There walked in this lil Chinese boy and you can hardly find any Chinese dudes in this school. Its 95% Malays, 4.9% Indians and 0.1% Chinese. He had the usual constipated look and to make things worse, the Malay boy before him was screaming his lungs out shouting "tak nak! tak nak! ... sakit! sakit!". The poor fella was so terrified, grimacing like he's never grimaced before, any longer and it'll be his permament face.

Out of nowhere, another Malay boy, who wasn't acting like a wimp, comes and put his arm around him.

With all the racial crap happening these days ... that's a rarity.

If only my handphone had a camera ...
